Be a clown, be a clown: Time for Zaid to reflect on what he and KITA are about

Be a clown, be a clown: Time for Zaid to reflect on what he and KITA are about

A new bunch of clowns have emerged in the skewed Malaysian political landscape. KITA‘s latest salvo at PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim is seen as totally unwarranted.

The childish gimmick of offering a silver Rolls Royce and RM10,000 cash to anyone who can find a man who looks like Anwar backfired.

It was a snide reference to the controversial Datuk T sex video, and only served to reinforce the perception that KITA head Zaid Ibrahim was a stooge for Prime Minister Najib Razak and UMNO.

Maybe KITA wanted to show that by offering a Rolls that it was a classier outfit than say Ibrahim Ali's Perkasa, but somehow it fell flat. Critics opine that while Perkasa may be boorish and low-class, KITA was no better.

In fact, it is boorish, low-class and trying to show off it had a Rolls to throw away!

Why the persistent attacks on Anwar

KITA is indeed showing its immaturity at a time when it needs to prove its professionalism and political mettle. Such publicity stunts are seen as opportunistic attacks without substance and best of all - by a mosquito political party that has yet to make any impact in Malaysia's volatile political scene.

As such, comical antics as these will only make KITA look like Clowns and lose what little credibility it holds amongst the Malaysian electorate.

The Malaysian public is not interested to know whether Anwar is guilty or not. There is no public outcry and neither has the public clamoured for his innocence to be proven.

Why is KITA so upset by the Police’s explanation that it has to keep the identity of the Sex Video offender under wraps? No one is fooled by the Police either. Many even think they are a tag team with the ultimate aim of wanting to snare and present championship belt to Najib and UMNO.

As far as the public is concerned, Anwar is a well known leader of the Opposition coalition, as well as a Hero to many Malaysians in this country. People admire him for his consistency and his earnest struggles to reform Malaysia.

Even though he is weighed down by all the poorly hatched scandals, Malaysians know for a fact that unlike other Cabinet Ministers, he is not a Murderer, nor a Rapist, or a Groping Molester, nor a 10 percent man with ties to the Abu Sayaff.

He does not moo like a cow, nor croak like a repulsive, overweight toad. And if by a miracle Anwar has cured himself of his bad back, and is now able to give such a roaring performance in the sex video, Malaysians will still write the episode off and think of him as another porn star hero. He will certainly not be the first one in such a starring role in the government.

What is KITA's and Zaid's real agenda anyway

For KITA president, Zaid Ibrahim, the Rolls gimmick is most damaging. In the past, many Malaysians looked up to Zaid as he held promise and hope for the reform agenda in the country. His membership in PKR was welcome by many Malaysians. Some even saw in him a promising leader and a future Prime Minister of this nation.

Then disaster struck.

Picked to contest in the Hulu Selangor seat, Zaid lost to an unknown from MIC. Sore loser or not, he attributed his loss to an act of internal sabotage. Although, he later vowed not to contest the deputy presidency in PKR, he still went on to contest anyway. But again without success.

Citing Anwar and Azmin as stumbling blocks to his rise in PKR, he then left in a huff to form KITA.

But while the respect for Anwar has not waned, Zaid’s reputation seems to be taking a toll. Zaid’s inconsistency and his irrational actions seem to betray his sincerity. And this latest publicity stunt only cements the fact.

Malaysians know that Anwar is not exactly an angel. But they have forgiven him his past misdeeds, and still look up to him for leadership. Zaid does not have to subscribe or even agree to Anwar's views, but he should not cause the trouble that he did while in PKR. Neither should he continue the vendetta for there is no basis for him to go after Anwar.

Is Anwar in government now? Did he embezzle billions of the country's wealth? Did he chase away our talents to our other shores? Did he stoke racial and religious tensions? Why hunt after him and not UMNO and BN?

Revenge appears to be its raison d'etre

In the latest episode, Zamil – the KITA Kedah president - told the public that:

“We are doing this to put an end to the prolonged saga following Anwar's claim that even if people say that the man in a sex video may look like him, it is not his tummy."

Zamil also said he would invite Eskay, Zaid Ibrahim and Senator Ezam Noor to sit in a panel to identify the Anwar look-a-alike.

“The three of them were very close to Anwar. They can tell who looks exactly like Anwar. The public are confused. I believe Anwar can finally clear his good name if we can help him find a man who looks like him, walk like him, and even smile like him."

But all 3 men are well-known to be bitter enemies of Anwar's. Does Zamil think he was being smart? By the way, Zamil was only to happy to tell the world the Rolls was his, while the RM10,000 was from 'someone else' in the party. Sad to think that there are people in this world who can think this is 'class'.

Coming back to the subject, KITA leaders cannot be taken seriously if they are willing to stoop so low in their quest to insult another leader.

Neither will anyone vote for them if they have no programmes other than to take petty revenge against Anwar and all the political foes who have ever slighted or stepped on Zaid's toes.

While it would be more beneficial for KITA to convince the nation of its wide ranging visions and objectives for a better nation, it looks as though it has already scored a fatal own goal. Time is up and there is no more 'extra time' for either KITA or Zaid. - Malaysia Chronicle

Compulsory headscarves: MCA slams "power-hungry" PAS

Compulsory headscarves: MCA slams "power-hungry" PAS

PAS leaders denied the MCA's accusations that all female reporters including non-Muslims had to wear headscarves during its 57th annual congress cum party elections due to begin this Friday.

"They should check their facts before shooting off. We are on the opposite of the fence but it doesn't mean if they called us, we wouldn't have answer them," PAS treasurer-general Hatta Ramli told Malaysia Chronicle.

Bogeyman

Citing a news report from an online portal, Wanita MCA secretary-general Senator Chew Lee Giok had lashed out at PAS for the directive, accusing the Islamist party of being "power-hungry" and disrespectful of other races and religions.

"The issue was brought up yesterday in Malaysiakini (Chinese version) when PAS issued a Notice on theMuktamar Tahunan which required all interviewers to comply with several regulations," Chew said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

"These regulations include dress standards such as male reporters not being allowed to wear t-shirts or shorts, and Muslim female journalists are to wear a tudung. The statement went so far as to require non-Muslim females journalists to wear head scarves as well. They have also been forbidden to wear dresses and skirts."

She added that the choice of personal clothing was a "fundamental and individual right".

"This is a clear example of the PAS depriving people of their personal liberties. In a multiracial country, I absolutely respect the Muslim dress-code, but we also want PAS to respect the non-Muslim customs and choices," Chew added.

Her outburst is not surprising given the MCA's stance towrads PAS. Through the decades, the MCA has relied on rallying Chinese support by holding up PAS as a bogeyman, who will deprive them of their social and educational rights.

"This shows that not only are they (PAS) a pseudo-democratic party with overreaching power, but they also discriminate against women, hold extreme beliefs and are crossing acceptable boundaries to control individual rights," said Chew.

Party polls in focus

The PAS congress begins on June 3 and ends on June 5. Apart from the president's post, which Hadi Awang has already won uncontested, all other posts will be keenly challenged.

Three men - incumbent Nasharudin Mat Isa, vice president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and central committee member Mohamad Sabu will fight for the deputy presidency.

Six men - including incumbents Mahfuz Omar and Salahuddin Ayub - will gun for the three vice-presidencies.

Their challengers are former Perak mentri besar Nizar Jamaluddin, Kelantan executive councillors Husam Musa and Nik Mohd Amar Abdullah, and also information chief Idris Ahmad.

Court throws out suit against Wee over computer classes

Parents also ordered to pay RM10,000 to the respondents.

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court today dismissed a suit brought by 18 parents against Deputy Education Minister Wee Ka Siong and four others, which challenged the government’s decision to include computer classes into school timetables.

The decision was made by Judge Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim in chambers today after granting preliminary objections to dismiss the suit.

In April last year, the 18, parents of students of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Desa Jaya, Kepong, filed the originating summons asking for a declaration that computer classes for Years One to Six of government-aided schools, including Chinese primary schools, was not a subject in approved timetables and was not within the ambit of Education Act 1996.

Hence, they said the computer clasess cannot be included into the timetables of government-aided schools nor be taught during normal school hours.

They also wanted all the subjects including computer classes in the approved timetables of government-aided schools to be exempted from any levy or fee.

In the suit, they named Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Desa Jaya’s headmistress Chow Siew Fon, Wee, the Parent-Teacher Association of the school, the school board’s chairman, Tan Kim Hor and Selangor Education director Sulaiman Wak as the respondents.

They claimed that the headmistress had abused her powers by inserting the computer classes into the school’s timetable and had authorised the collection of fees from the students for the computer classes.

Counsel Ben Chan who represented Tan told reporters that the court dismissed the suit with costs.

He said the court ordered the parents to pay RM10,000 to the other four respondents while his client, Tan, was to be paid RM25,000.

PAS denies headscarf rule on non-Muslims

PAS denied today that it had set rules forcing non-Muslim female journalists to wear headscarves when covering the party’s 57th muktamar this week.

PAS election committee chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman told The Malaysian Insider that he had not issued such a directive and refuted reports carried yesterday in the Chinese media.

“As far as I know, there is no such condition,” he said when contacted.

Committee officials later confirmed with The Malaysian Insider that only Muslim journalists are required to wear tudungs (Muslim headscarf) during the muktamar while the non-Muslims must dress neatly in non-revealing clothes.

“Both men and women are not allowed to wear shorts and t-shirts while the women cannot wear revealing clothes. Non-Muslim women are not required to wear headscarves,” said an official.

According to a report in the Chinese-language section of an online news portal yesterday, PAS had issued a circular ordering all non-Muslim female journalists to wear headscarves and forbidding them from wearing dresses and skirts.

The report irked Wanita MCA secretary-general Senator Chew Lee Giok who likened the rule today as a form of “extremism, conservatism and discrimination against women”. -- The Malaysian Insider

LYING, A MALAYSIAN BENCHMARK?

NADES’ interview with James Wong, the co-designer of the "Malaysian Gardens" at the Chelsea Flower Show on Tuesday, was shorter than expected. The question was: "Are all these plants from Malaysia or were they sourced from other countries?"

JAMES was blunt to the core and gave an honest answer. “They are not from Malaysia”, he said, “but similar species could be found in Malaysia. Importing from Malaysia would be a problem because of quarantine regulations. We cannot import anything which has soil in it."

For the sake of a medal, it was felt that some sort of "back-door arrangements" had to be made and it appeared acceptable because it was not the first time it had been done. Actually, it was the first time someone had found out!

AND WE THOUGHT ONLY THE ELECTIONS COMMITTEE AND THE JUDICIARY ETC ETC ETC CHEATED!

WHO ELSE CHEATED?

DANG! STUPID QUESTION….IF MY PA WAS AROUND HE WOULD GIVE ME ANOTHER CLIP!
