PM Najib: Sabahans won’t fall for Pakatan

The people of Sabah cannot be easily duped by the opposition pact, says the prime minister.
SANDAKAN: The people of Sabah are wise and cannot be easily duped by the opposition, said Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.
He said Sabahans know that it was only through Umno and the Barisan Nasional (BN) that Sabah could enjoy continued development and their interests looked after.
The people of Sabah and Malaysia on the whole, he said, clearly understood that the most important agenda of the government was the National Transformation Programme.
“So far, many successes have been achieved (by the BN government), give us five more years to double that,” he said when opening Sabah’s Umno Zone 5 divisional delegates meeting here today.
Umno Zone 5 involves the divisions of Libaran, Sandakan, Batu Sapi, Kinabatangan and Beluran.
Najib said the federal government was aware that Sabah needed more roads, electricity supply, houses and various other facilities.
He said all these could be delivered by the BN which was in line with its ‘Janji Ditepati’ pledge to fulfill the needs of the people wherever they were.
Good ties with state government
He noted that the good relationship between the federal government and the Sabah government was a further boon for efforts to develop the state.
“I am very pleased with the cooperation given by the Sabah government led by Chief Minister Musa Aman in developing Sabah.
“If there are differences in opinion, these are discussed in an amicable manner and resolved in the interest of Sabahans. This forms an important basis for the cooperation between the federal government and the state government,” he said.
He added that he would ensure that development in Sabah would be at the same pace as states in Peninsular Malaysia.
Among efforts taken in this direction was providing huge allocations under the National Transformation Programe, he said.
Najib and wife Rosmah Mansor later attended an Aidil Fitri open house organised by the divisions before leaving for Kota Kinabalu.
