To Umno, all dissidents are traitors

YOURSAY 'Patriotism is love for the nation, not any party. Only a party that is arrogant dares equate itself to the country in the way that Umno has.'

Umno's nation of traitors

your saySwipenter: It is that simple - to Umno, everyone is a traitor and enemy to the Malay race, Islam and country if you are not agreeable with and/or subservient to them.

But it is also a dangerous game that Umno is playing using this cocktail of race, religion, sex, Chinese communism, Jewish and foreign conspiracies.

For 55 years, they have most successfully employed the race and religion strategy to retain political power. Now the cracks are appearing and they have everything to lose; power, money and the impunity to do as they please.

That is why we are seeing Umno's version of fascism on the rise, as reflected by the political violence we are witnessing so often nowadays with the right-wing pro-Umno groups like Perkasa, Pekida and numerous other Malay/Muslim NGOs claiming to defend Malay rights and privileges and Islam.

For them, if playing with fire can retain their political control over the country, so be it. Can anybody guarantee that Umno would not resort to violence should they lose the general election?

FellowMalaysian: To be labelled a 'traitor' by the ruling regime indeed comes cheap in this country.

PM Najib Razak, under the tutelage and influence of former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad, engages a fleet of civil services solely to monitor the activities of individuals as well as civil societies just to make sure they don't fall out of line.

Even NGOs or religious organisations receiving aid from foreign sources, be it financial or otherwise, are suspiciously frowned upon by the Umno regime. Chinese language societies have often been accused of propagating or been under the influence of communism.

Such are the whimsical antics of the current Mahathir-influenced government that has faint respect for its people.

Headhunter: Yes, we are traitors to the BN. But no, we are not traitors to the country. Activists like Suaram should be hailed as heroes because they fight for justice and against corruption.

And we all know who the most corrupt in the country are, don't we? The real traitors are those who plunder the country and bring in illegal immigrants to shore up the voters' list.
Abasir: Three points:

1) Being labelled a 'traitor' by Umno and its underlings is actually a badge of honour.

2) The fellow (Just World president Chandra Muzaffar) quoted by that propaganda organ New Straits Times, is a lame excuse for a thinker.

3) The desperate dying regime will do just about anything as it faces its imminent demise.

Onyourtoes: So only Umno and their cronies are patriots. But we shall always remember Samuel Johnson who made this famous pronouncement that patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.

Obviously Johnson was not referring to patriotism in general, only false patriotism. Even nincompoops would have no problems seeing who the scoundrels are in the country today. Who then, are the supporters of these scoundrels?

Al Tugauw: These Umno-BN scoundrels who are the real traitors have been deceiving the nation for so long that they still expect to get away with it.

Only the overwhelming majority of the people's will can overcome and prove them wrong. Anything less will be a travesty and a tragedy.

Senior: Patriotism is love for the nation, not any party. A traitor is that of the country not any party. Only a party that is arrogant can dare to equate itself to the country in the way that Umno has.

Loo Soon Fatt: By now BN, led by Umno for 55 long years, is no longer fit to rule the country with their on going misdeeds getting intolerable. We are ashamed these leaders behave like clowns who believe we are still kids.

The blessing is, the rakyat have matured and we know how to think as grown-ups. Even people who had been voting BN all the while are now shaking their heads in disbelief and anger. The end of BN is indeed real.

Keturunan Malaysia: Many people have now realised the serious gravity of our ‘tidak apa' or ‘never mind lah' attitude that has brought us to this point in our lives. It is for these reasons that I choose myself to shoot down outright lies, crap and spin.

LittleGiant: S Thayaparan's articles are soul-touching and sometimes even emotional. I salute him for his courage and dignity. Yes, for Umno and for people like Chandra Muzaffar, anyone who says anything against Umno and its leaders are traitors, including allMalaysiakini subscribers.

There is a saying in an Indian language that goes something like this: "A king will punish on the same day, whereas God will mete out the punishment when the time comes."

What it means is that no one will ever escape from God's punishment. Umno will incur the wrath of God for all its follies. It's just a matter of time.

Joe Lee: Very well said, Thayaparan. Umno's ‘peace' was never ever good nor legitimate. Yes, we were nearly all traitors to the principles of democracy, and to the constitution.

We were all 1Malaysia Bodoh. Now we need to move to 1Malaysia Bijak - just like what the Taiwanese, South Koreans and Indonesians have done.

Starr: If there is ever a crime committed against the country and its people, it's Umno-BN and its leadership. Similarly, if there is ever a traitor to the country, it's Umno-BN and its leadership.

There is no one to blame for the country's ills except Umno-BN and its leadership. So, what rights have they got to blame others as traitors? They only have to look at themselves in the mirror to see the ugly side of themselves.

Abuminable: I never used to believe in demonic possession and dark forces until I opened my eyes and witnessed the way an entire nation and its culturally diverse people could be mind-controlled by a small handful of malignant entities - using blood sacrifice as an offering to the subterranean ghouls.

That's what May 13 was really about - human sacrifice to the Dark Goddess, by a dark priesthood of power-hungry parasites who used race and religion to permanently divide the population so that they could rule forever and ever.

However, they did not foresee that digital technology would accelerate political consciousness and breed a new generation of fearless, honest, freedom-loving activists who can outmanoeuvre these evil men, unmask them, and completely undermine their wet dreams of political dynasties.

1Malay-sia-sia: When all is said and done, I'd rather be a traitor to this BN government than a comrade-in-arms to thieves and manipulators of all things decent. - Malaysiakini
